How it works
①
Find a penpal
Browse the classifieds board. Filter by city, region, or interest. Send an intro letter — max 150 words. Your penpal has a few days to reply.
Like scanning the personal ads with a cup of milk tea.
②
Write proper letters
No emoji, no voice notes. Just words on paper — up to 200 per letter. Letters take time to travel. You can't unsend them. No double-ticks.
We track the Konglish phrases in every letter you receive.
③
Build a friendship
Up to 5 penpal slots. Reuse a slot by closing a penpalship thoughtfully — there's a whole farewell flow with a reflection step. Or request a reunion later.
'Every goodbye is the birth of a memory.' — Dutch proverb, apparently.

Questions & Answers
Konglish is the delightful hybrid that happens when Cantonese speakers translate phrases directly into English — "add oil" (加油) for encouragement, "no eyes see" (冇眼睇) for something unbearably cringe, "eat wind" (食風) for a casual outing. We collect them from your letters and build you a personal vocab archive lor.
We simulate real postal transit times based on where you and your penpal live. A letter from Hong Kong to London takes about 3–4 days. From Melbourne to Toronto? A bit longer. Your letter is written, sealed, and then "travels" — you can't unsend it, and your penpal can't read it until it arrives. No double-ticks, no typing indicators. Just the wait.
Yes, during our early access period. You get 5 penpal slots and access to all stationery designs. We'll always keep a generous free tier — this is a hobbyist project, not a growth machine lor.
Letters expire if your penpal doesn't reply within a set window, and you can close a penpalship at any time. The closure flow even has a reflection step — pick a feeling, leave a private note, write a farewell letter. Endings deserve care too, la.
Not at all. Most letters are written in English, but Konglish phrases are very much encouraged. The app supports both English and 廣東話 UI preferences, and we highlight any Konglish phrases that appear in your received letters.
If you've closed a penpalship and later want to reconnect, you can request a reunion. If your ex-penpal also requests one independently — neither of you knows the other did — you're re-matched. It's mutual and anonymous until it sparks. Very fate lor.
